His out-of-the-box thinking and years of extensive experience have delivered successful solutions for thousands of client projects, from design through construction, including many of the mid-to-high-rise structures throughout the metro Denver area. Marc provides creative and alternative solutions to unique and challenging projects, helping clients, design teams and contractors meet their goals. To equip clients and train his fellow engineers, he developed the firm’s resource “toolbox” outlining solutions to potential challenges on existing and future projects.

Notable Projects/Accomplishments:

  • Serves as an expert witness to provide consultation in matters of dispute involving infrastructure, residential and commercial construction.

  • Created a unique solution of deep dynamic compaction to improve the ground of a contaminated brownfield site (Metropolitan State University Regency Athletic Field Complex), earning ACEC Colorado’s 2016 Grand Conceptor Award

  • Designed a first-of-its-kind passive dewatering system for three 13-story buildings and a below-grade parking garage at the Colorado Rockies stadium, eliminating the need for expensive pump and filter systems for groundwater

Marc Cleveland is a senior principal engineer with more than 44 years of experience in expansive soils, deep/shallow alternative foundation systems and ground modification techniques. He specializes in evaluating new development and existing construction and providing alternative recommendations for remediation of residential and commercial developments.

 

Marc joined CTL | Thompson in 1975 as an engineering technician and steadily climbed the ranks, becoming one of its leading geotechnical engineers. He is responsible for the firm’s overall business administration with a focus on marketing and business development. ​Marc is known throughout the state of Colorado for his commitment to the practice of geotechnical engineering.
