James D. Kellogg is an associate engineer with more than 20 years of experience in mountain development and construction. He is the Glenwood Springs Division Manager and is currently expanding the geographic area served by CTL | Thompson by establishing a satellite office in Bozeman, Montana.

 

His significant geotechnical engineering experience includes geologic hazard assessment, slope stability analyses and excavation retention design, including soils, micropiles and mechanically stabilized earth. He also expanded the firm’s capabilities to include analysis of mudflow and debris flow hazards.

 

 

James initially joined CTL in early 1997 but left in 2006 to work for Division 5 (Colorado River Basin) of the Colorado Division of Water Resources in Glenwood Springs. During this time, he was involved with numerous aspects of water resource engineering including stream gaging and hydrography, satellite monitoring, streamflow records development and augmentation plan administration. He was also responsible for select dam safety tasks.

James returned to CTL in 2015 and moved into the role of Glenwood Springs Division Manager in 2016. He oversees daily operations, staff development, client relations and business development for the division while contributing to overall management and growth of the company. James is also intimately involved with engineering analysis and design, as well as technical review.
